John (Jack) Cliff Atherton

It is with deep regret and sadness that we have to inform you that, after a brief illness, John Atherton known to many as Jack, passed away.

Our thoughts are with his family.

Jack, my second day in the Police I was on nights and was in the parade room all on my own when you were the second to arrive. Somehow you put me at my ease and it all seemed so good to be there. I will always remember that first meeting with you, it was like you had been a friend forever and so shall it remain. God look after you now Jack, as you looked after me. Karl

Jack was one of the original TAG members. It was never a dull moment. Who remembers \'Jack\'s wall\'? (Clue, it was about Jack practising driving HGVs). More recently with Childline 999. Jack will be missed with much sadness and fond memories.
